Week 2 Journal Writer
Dear Journal, I cannot express my self any other way then to paper. I feel like I have changed for so many people but they all act the same if not worse. My dad is always drunk and I am always being picked on. I dont understand after changing and thinking i am someone else everyone has still been mean if not worse. I am being abused mentally and physically. I dont want to turn out to be like my dad who should i call out too? My sisters?

if i am missing or dead week 3
she felt pain threwout the book and went threw alot of hard times. growing up she pretty much had it in her head that men can do anything they wanted too because thats how her father acted. she was taken advantage of and i dont think she knows how to react about it.. during the book it seems as shes having an identity problem. she grows up wanting boys to notice her as if they were the only attention she got but she didnt always get attention in a good way.. she wanted to go hang out at night but people and would ask her father when he was drunk so he would say yes. i think she pretty much just needed to know her sister and others do care about her and she doesnt need to act the way she was acting threw out the book
if i am missing or dead week 2
this girls going threw a hard life, i think shes just trying to find out who she is.?? growing up people find themselfs and know what they like and what they dont like. her father is a jerk to her, and i can relate because i dont get along with my parents either. another connection is when i was younger i didnt like telling people my feelings like if i was mad or not so i use to wright in journal also. she gets beat by boyfriends and clearly doesnt know when to turn away and say enough is enough i know somebody that is like that also but shes a grown female.

If i am missing or dead week one
"the reason i revealed the gruesomeness of this experience was to depict how far we will go to be attractive to a man to the point of having out bodies cut open " It doesnt matter if men look nasty to them they still look good and even if their bodys are cut open they would still prolly think they look good.
I think this is a good qoute because some guys that are grusomeness still try to get with woman and maybe if they got rejected enough it would make them end up raping a girl or something. and it fits the book because this is a book about getting raped and other interesting details.
"If i am found missing or dead" This is the title of the book and makes a good point in the story because its about dating guys that arnt good enough and do that kind of stuff as in rap and getting beat too and its like how much more will you take until you could be found missing or dead.
"many will tell me they stay together for the children, she says. i encourage them to get apart for thier children because children mimic us, and if they see you belittled, crying, thrown up against the wall, that will look normal to them." I like this qoute because its true if children are in a house hold of abuse between parents or what not they will think its normal to hit their loved ones when they get older and its not a good thing to keep going.

Idealist/Realist
I tend to be an idealist. I like to dream about a perfect future and think everything is going to be okay. I'd rather not face reality cause sometimes it can be harsh and misserable. We all like to live in our own little world sometimes and not face reality. Im always positive. Being classified as a realist isnt a bad thing either, just different point of views. They dont sugar coat anything, just except life as it is. For example: We live in holley, its snowy and cold outside. Wouldnt we all love to picture being in a nice warm sunny climate? :) To me, being an idealist is more fun.

Quote
I agree with the quote because having free will, you can either take it for granite or not. Having free will is choices that you make to actually cause it to be good or bad. If you make bad choices in your life they will come back to taughnt you in later life. You make your own curses to free will.

Is it half full or half empty: Realist/Idealist
A few years back I was sitting in my kitchen talking to my mom about realists and idealists. Up to this point for whatever reason i had not heard of the expression of the glass being half empty or half full. So my mom grabbed a glass out of the cupboard and asked me what do you see. Now not knowing i said "A glass of water" my mom replied "and its...?" I then came back questionably with "half empty" she told me about how my grandma was always the positive one that viewed the glass at half full. Most of the time i like to view myself as positive wouldn't everybody? But at that moment I realized that i was a little bit of a realist. This kind of thing made me a little sad i always believed that I was sort of an idealist but i thought about and I do have some idealist qualities like always being thankful for what i have but also being a bit of a complainer.

"mankinds greatest gift, also its greatest curse,is that we have free will" by Elisabeth kubler-
i disagree with this quote, because if you think about it people dont have as much free will as people like to think. everything you do is regulated by rules and laws and is influenced by what you grow up around and what you go through in your life. i think that if more people practiced there true free will that our world could be a better place and there would be less problems in our world

hypocrites
Hypocrites are people who pretend to be someone they aren't or people who judge people for certain things when they them selfs actually do the same things. the world to me is full of these kinds of people, alot are kids maybe trying to fit in or hide who they really are, and another great majority is parents and adults who might know something that they are doing is bad or wrong and they just dont want you to do the same things they do.

quote
Free will can be a curse and a gift because with free will comes The chance of making a bad decision and screwing up big time, but also its good because you could make the right decisions and do something great with your life. so i think that since we are all given the luxery of free will, we should use it wisely because right now in egypt and other countrys they have dictatorshiop and dont really have much free will because they are watched all the time.. and look how thats turing out.. rebellions and deaths.

Realist or idealist.
I believe Kayla is a idealist, She realizes that there is no way she can excape global-1 and yet she continues trying. She is trying to believe that she is doing the right thing, but then at time's turns back and realizes she should just give into the barcode. I believe Zekeal is a realist. He looked at the facts and realized that getting "coded" was the only way to do things.
Quote
I agree with the quote. I agree with it because free will can be both a great thing and bad thing depending on how you use it. If you use free will for bad things it can be a great curse for you and other people. If you use free will for a good thing you can really bless your life and the life of others. This is why i agree with this quote. Free will definitely goes both ways.
Im More an Idealist
Thinking and dreaming keeps this world on its toes. Many people have over active imaginations and just thinks of situations. I'm famouse for that. many times i think of my boyfriend coming in to the school or bands coming and seeing me sing their songs. It may seem out there and stupid but it could happen. You do never know what happens and i do believe in that so im a big idealist person. Also it passes the time in class Choi. Hahahahaha just kidding. But also i like the mistical things. i love playing games with the mistical middle ages and stuff like that. Dunces and Dragons is a good example. You make up your own charater and play with friends with made up situations. A made up story.

Elisabeth Kubler-Ross and bball game
"Mankind's greatest gift, also its greatest curse, is that we have free will." This quote reminded me of one of my basketball games. It was in the fourth quarter, score tied, and the referee called a foul on a girl whos face went into the floor. So of corse the dad got mad. Okay not just mad but REALLY MAD! He started flipping out saying the refe sucks and everyone sucks just because of a bad call. So that is an exaple of the greatest curse that we have free will. I thought it was really funny.

acuccaro #2
kayla was sad and crying about her fathers death but now gene died, she doesnt know what else to do but cry. she feels like shes all alone. kaylas going threw hard things in life, her friend amber ends up telling her that shes moving because her dad was fired and theirs no way for amber to stay. i feel bad for kayla shes slowley losing everything. also it sounds like kayla and zekeal like eachother. its good she hangs out with zekeal still because after everything kayla needs to get away and hang out with someone. zekeal takes kayla to the secret group agenst the bar code tattoo. people are now going around beating up the people who dont have the tattoo. kayla gets home and asks her mom all these questions about her dad and it sounds like her dad could have been a TMP (tattoo mania psycho) and that would mean if you were apart of hat group that you had a problem with drugs and alcohol.

Common issue
A common issue from the novel & in the real world would be peer pressure. Everybody is pressured some way at one point in their life. Kayla is being pressured into getting this tattoo. She understands something is wrong with it yet government made it mandatory to have the tattoo if your seventeen or older. People now-a-days are pressured into everything. A lot of teenagers face this issue. Being pressured into sex maybe drugs, etc. You just have to have enough will-power to resist.
"Hypocrite"
I believe people in general are hypocrite's to try to fit it. Also some people do it to have other people except them, when in reality you being yourself will just bring people closer cause you don't have to act like someone you're not. Being a hypocrite is basically being a different person, when inside you wanna be yourself.
Quote Response
I find this quote to be very true. For example in The Bar Code Tattoo Kayla and the KnotU2 group tried to hand out newspapers at the school about the corruption of Global-1 when the Principle declared it a disruption to the school and banned the newspapers when it clearly states under the First Amendment that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, prohibiting the free exercise therof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press." Not letting the students hand out these newspapers clearly shows there is bias in the school system and possible corruption. Also situations like these can be seen in events such as the Holocaust where Hitler made many laws preventing Jewish people from living life freely until eventually they were sent to concentration camps and were worked until death.
Peer Pressure
Ive noticed that kayla is being strongly pressured into getting the tatto. Im pretty sure she would get it if so many people werent dieing from it. Another reason being there are kids just like her who dont wanna get it soo there kinda helping her out too. She would probably get it if these things werent true sooo so far shes doing good. I think this sums up the most recent chapters weve had to read.
Well being
Everyone should be them selves. because everyone has different personalities and perspectives of life. and should express them in any way they want. unless it endangers another human being.
Question #2
I believe that a relevent issue that occures in the book and in real life is peer pressure. Peer perssure is a strong thing when your in middle school and high school and still sometimes when your out of school. Most people are pressuring her to get the tattoo but she doesnt really want too. She feels like shes an outcast but still does not want to be branded with something that is ruining peoples lives. Its kinda like drugs, drugs ruin peopels lives but yet everyday friends are pressuring friends to do them. She finally finds a place belong too, which is with the other people that do not have the tattoo..I belive if they were not in her school she would have went back and got that tattoo.

" Where you find the laws most numerous, there you will find also the greatest injustice."
Laws can be a bunch of bull crap!!!! There are some ones that we dont even follow their so stupid. Some times their are good reasons for breaking the law. Like speeding if someone is dying or having a kid. That court case that the father got ticketed for because his wife was just about to have the kid. They should of found him not guilty. That was a good reason for speeding. They're are many problems that could happen if you are not in a hospital. The law just makes me mad!!!
Hypocrite!!!!
Hypocrites, People who pretend to be someone there aren't. People, are hypocritic daily. Some people more then others. It all depends on how much of a hypocrite they are. Say two people in a relationship are out an a date, the boy says " babe, im in love with you" the girl sits and thinks for a monet not sure what to do so she lyes and says " i love you too" there is a hyprocritic example. She's pretending to love him, saying something she doesnt mean. Lying about her feelings. Another example is something everyone goes threw, a fake person. Say a new kid is coming to your school, of coarse he wants to fit in and he lies about who he is. That is a very hyprcritical situation. You have some random kid pretending to be someone or something he is not. Everyone is at some point a hypocrite in his or her life time, some big, some small. Doesn't matter everyone is at one time or another

Man vs. Society
Kayla has the struggle of dealing with pressure from her family and friends to get the bar code tattoo. Although she is doing good and not wanting to get it. I feel this is mainly because of her parents death and her best friend. There death somehow being related to the bar codes although the official cause is unknown. This is a good example of Man vs. Society because the bar code tattoo is becoming a popular thing and she has to resit the urge to get it.

identity vs. access
Identity its who you are and if you have to give it out to any body to get/go any where your giving it up. its not just our name its every thing you have done or do.
Freedom vs. Control
I believe this is freedom vs. control because people have the right to be free and not follow what others do. In this book i am glad Kayla is sticking up for what she wants and not following other people like her friend because she thinks it's the "cool" thing to do. People cannot control other people to get bar tattoos and all get imprinted the same. Seeing her dad die from the tattoo just means something is not right with this bar code tattoo, and Kayla has the freedom to find out and not get a tattoo like her parents, and best friend.
When people see it as wrong but in reality its right.
We see many of this common problem in this world. In games, books or our own problems. Im playing this video game on XBox called Fable 3. The main charcter ends up being a King or Queen but a tirant and the whole town was infurerated when him/her. The reason for this was that there was evil coming and you needed to get enough money to save your people and the only way for that was to be a tirant. Another example is where i was sitting at a campfire with my boyfriends friends. They're code was "What stays at the fire. stays at the fire." of course that doesnt happen. One of my friends boyfriends had another girl there and you could guess where that led to. I ended up breaking the code and everyone hated me after that but now my friend learned how big of a jerk he was. I dont care if people hate me. I sleep at night well because i did the right thing.
Wrong Vs Right
Now who here would throw their lives away for a loved one? I believe that when faced in a situation where the ones you care about most are in danger is the absolute best time to do the "wrong" thing. For example any of you guys seen John Q? This is a brilliant example. A proud father John came face to face with the possible death of his son after the hospital refused him help to his sons condition because he did not have the money needed to pay for a heart surgery. He tried many times to raise money legally by garage sales and fundraisers but failed to raise enough money. So what did he do? He marched into the hospital with a gun and held the place hostage until the doctors promised to perform surgery on his son. N0w im not going to go deeper into the movie so you can watch it if you haven't yet(which i highly recommend). The point is that John put his life on the line to save his son because if he didn't his son would surely die before his eyes. So guys, if you were John and your son was dying and nobody was helping you what would you do?
P.S Mr Choi dont worry I'll use the book soon ;D

The Well-Being Of......
The well-being of an individual is more important then the well-being of society because in the long run the individual makes up the society. Which is important because every individual makes the society work better, making the society succeed. Boo -Yah!!!!
acuccaro
I think this situation is freedom vs. control. when i read the chapters i think its wrong and if people punish others for not wanting to get the bar code tattoo. they dont have too, were all our own peson and should be able to be different. also it talks about ho shes now seventeen. another topic is how her dad had commited suiside and her mother becomes addicted to alcohol. i think Kayla has a hard life and maybe thats why she seperates herself from eveyone else.? people are killing themselfs because of the lines imprinted on there rists. i guess ig you dont ave the bar code then maybe your a nobody... they say the bar code gives you your identity.
i think people should be able to do as they feel and stand out if they want too and should not be punished for not wanting to have the tattoo like everyone else.
i think people should be able to do as they feel and stand out if they want too and should not be punished for not wanting to have the tattoo like everyone else.

Society vs. Individual
I feel the well-being of a individual is far more important than the well-being of a society. Individulas are the ones who make up a society. Therefore if individulas are unhappy or unsafe than a society isnt fulfilling its requirements. A good society cant be made up of unhappy civilians. A society should focus on individuals first rather than a whole.

When doing the "wrong thing" the "right thing" to do?
When doing the wrong thing is the right thing to do is when a friend asks for your advice. Say your best friend comes up to you and says "How do I look" and you replied honestly and said "Like you rolled out of bed". How would that make you feel? Instead you could reply and say "You look Great!". That's the right thing to say. Or for instense, Your parents tell you not to go into a ceratin person's house, but your out in the cold and have no where to go and no one knows where you are for whatever reason, and your friends house is near, going into that persons house could be the right thing to do to save yourself.

wrong things and right things
Some people dont know when they do something wrong. For example, sense we are in high school, some of us can drive and others cant. So i think its the wrong thing to get in a car with a teenager. Who you think is your friend, and you trust them but, do you really know if he/she is a safe driver? I think the right thing to do is first, ask your parents, second ask them how long they have had there lisens and have been driving. Third, ask your self do you want to get in the car.
Society vs. inidvidual
The well being of a society cant be "well" if the individuals that make up the society are not well.. I belive if we focused more on the well being of the individuals in our societies we wouldnt even have to worry about the "well being" of a society because they would already be good because the people who make it up are well. People worry to much about how the society as a whole is, such as politics. If they worried more about certain people that are not well then it would make our society better.

Society vs. Individuality
I think the individual's well-being is more important then the whole society's. I think this because if the individuals have a better well-being then wont the society be better off? If there wasn't anyone in a society, would it still be a society? People make up a society. The deffinition of a society is an organized group of people who share the same intrest such as culter, religion, or political veiws even. If one individual didnt think of a "society" then it wouldnt exsist. If the well-being of the individuals didnt matter then a society wouldn't have came around. U cant have a glass of milk if you didn't get it from a cow, right? Just like you can't have a society without the individuals first.
